The conversation that became Silver Spoon.

Silver Spoon began with a working relationship—and a conversation on the road.

We met at the same restaurant in the Winelands. As the months went on, we discovered how well we worked together. We both wanted to do more and shared a vision of building something of our own.

On a drive to collect items from a supplier, Chantelle told Angelo that he would be great at developing recipes and menus professionally. He loved the idea. He could also see how Chantelle’s strengths would complement his: her organisation, her ability to get things done, and her talent for keeping the work behind the scenes moving.

The roles felt natural. Angelo would lead the culinary work—recipes, menus, costings, tastings and the delivery of our food services. Chantelle would manage marketing, bookings, client communication, administration, the website and project planning.

We decided to give that idea a go. That is how Silver Spoon came to be: two people with complementary skills and the same goal of creating an unforgettable culinary experience.

Why we’re keeping a journal

We want you to get to know the people behind Silver Spoon, as well as the work itself. This journal is a place to share our thinking about food and hospitality, the choices behind our menus, and updates as we build the business.

Based in the Western Cape, we’re beginning this next chapter with a shared vision—and we look forward to sharing it with you.
